Adult Formation - Tim Bottone, Director of Adult Formation
Christian formation is the lifelong process of growing in our relationship with God, self, others, and all creation. Every experience in our lives can provide us with the opportunity to express our faith; the challenge we face is recognizing these opportunities and learning ways to live in a secular world (Source: http://www.episcopalchurch.org/page/adult-formation-lifelong-learning).
Those involved in Adult Formation at St. Paul’s are committed to developing new learning experiences, responding to the needs and interests of our community, to listen to one another, sharing the stories of lifelong, unique journeys, gathering to hear God’s word in Scripture, and using prayer to find inspiration in ways we never thought possible.

Current opportunities for those interested in continuous learning are available as follows:
- Sunday morning Adult Forum - held from 9:10 to 10:00 a.m., where volunteers lead various topics of interest developed by the Adult Formation committee, a group of dedicated, passionate individuals united in the common purpose of faith formation. There are never any prerequisites, just a desire to listen, keep an open mind and/or actively participate in the lively discussions!!
- Bible Study – A Bible study group meets Wednesday at 10:45 in the church library. We started with the Bible Challenge to read the Bible in a year. We expanded to the Apocrypha and now we are using Forward Day by Day by Forward Movement to help us learn about the Bible.

- Advent and Lenten series – held Wednesday evenings during the times of preparation before Christmas and Easter. The evening begins at 6:00 PM with a light supper of soup, salad, bread and always fun and fellowship. The programs on various themes begin at 7:00 PM and end by 8:00 PM with a prayer service and/or meditation. The focus of these sessions is to provide a quiet and reflective, spiritually fulfilling experience amid the busyness of daily life. Come with an open heart, an open mind and prepared to be changed by the Holy Spirit at work!! (Watch the weekly bulletin for topics).
- Women’s Retreat – Open to all women of St. Paul’s, as an overnight retreat. No matter where you might be in your journey, all women share a unique perspective and common bond when it comes to faith formation. This is an annual event, held during Lent as a time to provide reflection, quiet space, and fellowship, a Spiritual Spa for the Woman’s Soul!
- Future ideas under construction include: Speaker/Facilitator from outside the parish; online study subscription for groups or individuals using online technology for a virtual classroom “on demand”; home Bible study groups; insert your idea here, etc.
All are welcome to come in, sit down, learn, listen and pray as we explore a lifelong journey of Christian Formation. If you have ideas for future programs, an interest in teaching and learning, please see Tim Bottone.
