Has being a member of St. Paul’s transformed my life?
Where have I met God in ministries at St. Paul’s or maybe where has God met me?
I have been a member of St. Paul’s about 15 years. In that time I have been involved in many different ministries. Of course with each ministry I have also been involved with other members of St. Paul’s. St. Paul’s has both transformed my life and given me additional opportunities to meet God in my daily life.
I have found that serving through ministries at St. Paul’s God has transformed my life. Service to others has brought me face to face with God in many different forms. God I have found is virtually everywhere. For many years I was not aware of this fact. Like many people I left God at Church. I did not allow God to enter my life at any other time than when I “officially” attended a church service. God was there all along simply for the asking but I did not ask because I did not know and because I did not open myself up to the idea. If you allow yourself to be open while attending St. Paul’s and then becoming involved in God’s work at St. Paul’s you will find God.
Did attending St. Paul’s transform me immediately? No. It happened gradually as I became more involved with the people of St. Paul’s parish. These people I have found over the years are a little different than people I have met elsewhere. They are immediately friendly and warm. They are not afraid or embarrassed to speak of God. They draw you into a relationship with God without at first knowing it. God is in this place. God is everywhere that we do his work. The people we choose to be in our life will influence us tremendously if we are open and listening. I have chosen to be a part of St. Paul’s because I have learned the people in this faith community are messengers of God. God is working through the members of St. Paul’s. These people draw me into God’s
world by being open and loving to me and carrying those qualities to others outside this church community.
Each ministry in which I have been involved at St. Paul’s continues to transform me closer to God’s will for me. The Holy Spirit is my companion because I have allowed the people of St. Paul’s to transform my world to one where I try to include God in all I do. Do I forget sometimes to include God? Yes. That is where those that I have chosen to surround me remind me of God. St. Paul’s brings me back home each week and through each ministry. God is here. Allow yourself the opportunity to meet God.
